About
A Note from the Founder
When I was first diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, I found myself in a confused and lonely place. While my friends and family tried their best to understand my disorder, I knew I needed to talk to people who had experienced what I was going through first hand. After countless hours of scouring the internet for ED support groups, I began to realize that the only easily accessible groups were exclusively for the friends and families of ED victims. Unfortunately, the stigmatization of eating disorders has allowed for sympathy and patience to become centered around victims' loved ones, encouraging the victims themselves to suppress their feelings for the sake of others.
It is important to take care of our friends and family; after all, they tend to be our best cheerleaders when it comes to recovery. However, it's time to recognize the "disorder" in eating disorder and reach out to the victims who are suffering in silence and guilt. I created the A & M Cooperative to provide victims and their loved ones with a community that breaks the barriers of traditional support systems. Our main mission is to grant a voice to all who are impacted by eating disorders, tearing down public misconceptions in the process.
